GO2 Health are committed to providing comprehensive health care to our ADF Veterans. We also provide allied health support for serving ADF members who have been referred by their Garrison GP, and care for their families under the ‘ADF Families’ scheme.
Our GPs are highly experienced in managing DVA and ex-military patients. We have strong links to RSL Advocates, Legacy, Mates4Mates and many other ESOs. We understand you.
Dr Kieran is ex Army and one of the owners of GO2.
Dr Ian has 40 years experience managing PTSD and DVA patients, and owned one of the largest DVA friendly practices in Townsville.
We specialise in Transition care, wrapping you up as you transition out of the ADF, and ensuring that your physical and psychological needs are addressed and met during this stressful time. We also welcome our ‘older’ veterans and their partners.
We have close links with the contracted DVA rehabilitation and vocational coordinators. We work with many RSL Advocates to help our nation’s best navigate the DVA process. Need help with your DVA claims – talk to us!
Our fully integrated ‘one stop shop’ model of wellness is unique, and provides our veterans with a high degree of satisfaction and positive outcomes. Being outcome and solution focused, we work closely with the veteran, and their families to guide them towards the next step in their journey. We are well known for taking on challenges, and those deemed ‘too hard’…
Gold Card holders may be eligible for the DVA Coordinated Veteran’s Care, which is a comprehensive health management process, and designed to make managing your overall health easier.
For White Card holders, we can only treat conditions under DVA for which liability has been accepted. Other conditions will be treated and managed under Medicare (private fees apply).
Gold Cards are like private health insurance, and you will be able to claim any GP referred Medicare-rebatable allied health services, GP visits, Specialist care and surgery.
Please ensure Reception is aware you are a new DVA patient, so they can book the appropriate time. We are very happy for your partner to be involved as well. If you have recently discharged our Practice nurse will likely perform a ‘Post ADF Health Check’, which is like the old CPHE. This takes at least 30 mins.
Please bring any relevant paperwork with you (not your entire medical record, just photocopies of the latest specialist reports, imaging etc). If you have been medically discharged, the page 2 summary of your MECR is very useful. DVA paperwork with claims details, medication lists etc are all important.
We must have your list of accepted conditions as we bill DVA against that, and the correct wording / diagnosis is important.
For those with physical conditions and no current physical therapist, you will most likely be referred to a GO2 Physio and Exercise Physiologist et al, to gain a baseline on your current situation. We can also look at dieticians, psychologists / psychiatrists as needed. We’ll also provide ‘civilian GP’ referrals to other providers you may already be engaged with.
No real issues, but just need a friendly GP? We can do that too!
As a one-stop-shop, we aim to line up your various appointments over a morning or afternoon, to minimise disruption to your family and lives.
Our allied health practitioners are outcome focused and generally will not treat you indefinitely – if we are not improving your situation within a few visits then we will relook at your case and potentially change tack.
If required, exercise physiologists will perform a biomechanical assessment and structure a targeted exercise program around your injuries. The aim is for you to continue this program at home or your local gym, with only occasional GO2 sessions to monitor your situation and tweak your program as needed.
Overall case-management is controlled by our doctors, and veterans usually meet with them fortnightly to monthly+, depending on their situation. The holistic wellness framework is critical, so expect for us to look at all aspects of your life – there is an open invitation for your partner to discuss their own needs and concerns with us. We also welcome feedback on your progress, as we are constantly evolving our care models.
