Dr Hampton is a passionate GP who loves the variety that general practice brings to his work. He grew up in New Zealand, spending most of his childhood in Wellington and completed his medical training through the University of Otago 2011. After graduating he spent 7 years working in the Hawkes Bay region where he built experience in a wide range of specialties in hospital, then completed his fellowship in General Practice in 2018. In 2019 Dr Hampton then decided to take a leap across the ditch and get a bit of experience working overseas. After settling in, buying a house and finding an Australian girlfriend he realised he wasn't going back any time soon!
In his General Practice Dr Hampton likes to manage both acute and chronic conditions, he believes in a team based approach and assisting his patients to understand their conditions and take control of their health. Dr Hampton is accredited with the Skin Cancer College of Australasia, holding advanced qualifications in skin cancer surgery and dermoscopy skin cancer diagnosis. He is confident in performing a range of skin cancer procedures including general excisions, nail surgery, skin flap and skin graft surgeries. He is also very experienced in non-surgical skin cancer management, and enjoys providing thorough skin checks.
Outside of work Dr Hampton is an adventurous foodie, enjoys exploring the outdoors and is always dreaming of the nearest mountain where he could blow the dust off his snowboard.
