supporting veterans through life after service
We have been encouraged by the continued national media focus on the experiences of veterans transitioning from military service into civilian life. These conversations play an important role in building understanding, awareness and momentum for change.
Recently, our co-founder Rod Martin joined Tim Webster on 2SM Breakfast for an important discussion about what life after service can look like for many veterans, and why this transition period deserves greater attention and support.
understanding the transition from service
During the interview, Rod spoke about the realities many veterans face when leaving the Australian Defence Force. Beyond the physical aspects of service, transition often involves a significant shift in identity, community, purpose and daily routine.
For many, this period can be one of the most challenging parts of their entire service journey. Navigating civilian systems, redefining personal and professional identity, and rebuilding connection can feel overwhelming without the right guidance and support.
a step towards better coordination
The conversation also touched on the newly announced Veteran and Family Wellbeing Agency. This represents a positive step towards a more coordinated and holistic approach to veteran support.
We welcome this reform and look forward to working alongside the Department of Veterans’ Affairs as these changes take shape, with the shared goal of improving outcomes for veterans and their families.
