Osteopathy

Osteopaths provide a holistic approach to treatment by not only focussing on the site of pain but by looking at the whole body to try and find the root cause of an injury. Patients can present with shoulder pain and osteopaths may focus on the neck, upper back, or hips.

Osteopaths can treat and assess the musculoskeletal system in combination with other systems of the body. A patient can present with mid-back pain, but osteopaths may also consider diet or lifestyle factors that can contribute to musculoskeletal pain.

Sessions include a full health history, examination and treatment and tailor a treatment plan that suits your lifestyle. Osteopaths are manual therapists who employ a range of techniques including soft tissue massage, dry needling, taping – rigid/K-tape, stretching/Muscle Energy Technique or joint mobilisation and joint manipulation.

The goal of treatment is to empower the patient to understand their injuries and how they can reduce their pain long-term instead of requiring ongoing treatment.

Osteopaths work in conjunction with – Clinical Pilates, hydrotherapy, exercise physiology, dieticians, nutritionists, or podiatrists.
