Professional Background
Dr Barry O’Donovan hails from Galway in the West of Ireland. He graduated from the National University of Ireland in 1991, and was awarded the distinction of Fellowship of Royal College of General Practitioners in London in 2012. He has a background is in Plastic Surgery but he moved to General Practice to provide holistic care for patients rather than concentrating on just one specialty area. Barry worked as a GP Trainer and Appraiser in the United Kingdom.He was a University Lecturer and GP in Ireland. In 2012, Barry and his wife Sheila emigrated to Australia in pursuit of new adventures. Since moving to Australia, he has worked as a full-time GP as well as Senior Clinical Lecturer at Flinders University in South Australia and Adjunct Clinical Lecturer at Curtin University in Western Australia.
Special Interests Include: men’s health, mental health, occupational health and stress management, procedural work including minor skin surgery, iron infusions, insertion and removal of contraceptive implants (Implanon), and chronic disease management. Hobbies: Tennis but an all-rounder in sports, enjoys politics, and travelling.y.
